It is absolutely normal to expect that higher power LED’s in a resin 3D-printer gives a shorter curing time. For most rigid and tough resins, that is actually the case. Although for flexible resins this is not always the case. For a customer we were comparing the exposure times of Elastomer-X to see on which printer it will work fast. Just to educate we are not sharing the data here from Liqcreate Elastomer-X:
3D-Printer | UV power of printer | Average power (mW/cm^2) | Exposure time Elastomer-X with 100 micron layers |
Photon M3 Plus | 100% | 7,06 | 16,0 |
Photon Mono [1] | 100% | 4,63 | 16,0 |
Photon D2 | 100% | 2,92 | 22,0 |
Photon Mono SE | 100% | 5,51 | 16,0 |
Photon Mono X | 100% | 7,32 | 16,0 |
Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K | 100% | 3,21 | 22,0 |
Elegoo Saturn | 100% | 3,72 | 18,0 |
Elegoo Mars 2 | 100% | 3,69 | 22,0 |
Elegoo Mars 3 | 100% | 3,32 | 16,0 |
Peopoly Phenom Prime | 100% | 5,35 | 19,0 |
What you can see is that some higher power printers, the exposure time is lower, but it is far from halving when the printer power is doubled! If you need a faster resin, it is advised to go for a resin that has initially lower exposure times like Liqcreate Premium Flex. The slower curing Elastomer-X resin just needs its time to form a solid layer. in return of your patience, you get really good properties!

Elastomer-X
Liqcreate Elastomer-X is a clear photopolymer resin and can be processed on MSLA (LCD), DLP and laser based 3D-printers. 3D-printed parts from this material are exceptionally soft with a Shore A of 43 and have great flexibility. The product can be used as received, or colored with almost any commercial available 3D-resin colorants. Liqcreate Elastomer-X is can be used on open DLP, LCD and SLA 3D-printers in the range of 385 – 420nm. Its properties simulate soft TPU and silicone which makes it perfect for the production digital lattice foams, soft end of arm tooling (EOAT) for robots, grommets, bellows and elastic industrial parts.
