Elegoo launched the new Saturn 4 in two versions, the standard Saturn 4 and the Saturn 4 Ultra. Resin 3D-printing parameters for the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra can be found in the link. For extreme accurate parts we advise to also set shrinkage and offset parameters. You can already find information on that in the link. Sometimes it is challenging to 3D-print with flexible photopolymer resin. Especially with the Saturn 4 Ultra we have limited parameters for lifting speed or distance. The only options for flexible resins on the Saturn 4 Ultra is to set the movement to Slow. For some resins that is not enough.
While dialing in our Elastomer-X resin on the Saturn 4 Ultra, we noticed that it Elastomer-X needs a bit of extra attention and caution to work with.
First of all, set the printer to slow print speed for all flexible 3D-printing resin. You can do this in the Saturn 4 Ultra printer menu. Next, use heavy supports like always with flexible resin, find more instructions on that in the link. Now we have only tested small and medium parts. When the room/resin is cold, it can happen that the printer says that it detects “foreign matter detected, please troubleshoot”. here it gets a bit crazy, because Elastomer-X is quite thick at room temperature, it printer thinks that there is some plastic leftover from the previous build. To print you either have to warm the resin (it doesn’t do this with warmer Elastomer-X resin as it is more liquidy). Or the second option is to over-rule. When over-ruling you have to be very sure that everything is clean and that it only detects the resin.

3D-pringint parameters for flexible and Elastomer-X resin on the Saturn 4 Ultra
If you are taking all these things on consideration and need to print small and medium parts, then these settings can work:
Resin | Layer thickness | Exposure time (seconds) | Base layer /transition layers | Base layer exposure | Speed | Waiting mode | Rest time per step (seconds) |
Elastomer-X | 100 µm | 16,0 | 2 / 10 | 60 | Slow | Resting Time | 2,0/0/0,5 |
50 µm | 14,0 | 2 / 10 | 60 | Slow | Resting Time | 2,0/0/0,5 |
