During the summer of 2024 Elegoo has announced a successor in the Mars series. The new Mars 5 and Mars 5 Ultra were announced. With previous printer releases Elegoo would make the Ultra slightly fancier, or slightly faster. So mostly minor changes. With this new release they used a higher resolution LCD screen in the Mars 5 Ultra (9K) vs. the Mars 5 (4K). This is an odd move as the Mars 3 used a 4K screen while the Mars 4 was already upgraded to a 9K screen. See the full printer comparison below. The Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra (9K edition) has a build volume of 153,36 x 77,76 x 165 mm , with its 9K LCD screen this results in a pixel size of 18 microns. In this article you can find print parameters for the Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra. If you are looking for Elegoo Mars 5 (4K) resin parameters you can find it in the link.
While dialing in our Elastomer-X and Composite-X resin on the Mars 5 Ultra, we noticed that both resins needs a bit of extra attention and caution to work with.
First of all, set the printer to slow print speed for all flexible 3D-printing resin. You can do this in the Mars 5 Ultra printer menu. Next, use heavy supports like always with flexible resin, find more instructions on that in the link. For Composite-X the slow printing setting with medium supports is sufficient. Now we have only tested small and medium parts. When the room/resin is cold, it can happen that the printer says that it detects “foreign matter detected, please troubleshoot”. here it gets a bit crazy, because Elastomer-X and Composite-X are quite thick liquids at room temperature. The Mars 5 Ultra thinks that there is some plastic leftover from the previous build. To print you either have to warm the resin. Or the second option is to over-rule. When over-ruling you have to be very sure that everything is clean and that it only detects the resin.

3D-pringint parameters for Elastomer-X and Composite-X resin on the Mars 5 Ultra
If you are taking all these things on consideration and need to print small and medium parts, then these settings can work:
Resin | Layer thickness | Exposure time (seconds) | Base layer /transition layers | Base layer exposure | Speed | Waiting mode | Rest time per step (seconds) |
Elastomer-X | 100 µm | 14,0 | 2 / 10 | 80 | Slow | Resting Time | 2,0/0/0,5 |
Composite-X | 100 µm | 7,0 | 3 / 10 | 70 | Slow | Resting Time | 2,0/0/0,5 |
