When using a resin 3d-printer, it is very important that the platform / build plate is calibrated well. This is important because the first layer of the part needs to stick to the build plate. When the platform is slanted or not set at the bottom, the gap is too big to cure the resin to the build plate. It is always smart to calibrate when new resin 3D-printer arrives at your facility, or after printing a while. Especially 3D-printers like the Elegoo, where the platform is attached via a single point, the platform can get slanted after printing a while. Find 3D-printing settings for Liqcreate resins on the Elegoo Mars and Elegoo Mars Pro here.
How do you calibrate an Elegoo Mars and Elegoo Mars Pro?
Watch the video or instructions from Elegoo below.
If the build plate of your Elegoo Mars or Elegoo Mars Pro printer needs to be levelled, please follow the steps below:
Tools you need: M5 Wrench and a piece of paper.
Step 1:Â Fasten the rotary knob and loose the screws with the M5 Wrench. The build plate should be loose now.
Step 2:Â Put a piece of paper under the platform.
Step 3:Â Press “Tool” – “Manual” – “Home” on the display of your Elegoo Mars or Elegoo Mars Pro and wait ZÂ axis goes down and stops.
Step 4:Â Once the build platform stops, adjust the platform by hand to keep it in the center position. Then fasten the screws with the wrench.
Please note to fasten the #1 screw first, then the #2 screw, as indicated in the picture below.

Step 5:Â If the paper cannot be pulled out or the resistance is very high, then you should click to rise the Z axis at the distance of 0.1mm. If there is no resistance when pulling out the paper, click to descend the Z axis at the distance of 0.1mm. If there is some resistance but you can still pull the A4 paper out with slight efforts, then the leveling is complete. The resistance should be quite equal on the left and right, and on the front and back of the platform.
Step 6:Â After the above leveling is complete, set the current Z axis position as the initial height of the first layer position.
Note from Liqcreate engineers: After printing a lot, it can happen that the platform gets slanted slightly and needs calibration. You will notice this when parts fall off the build plate suddenly. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send us an e-mail at info@liqcreate.com.
